Hi,

Does your laptop and desktop have a Wlan card? If so you could try this method to access other computer:

  • First create a private network using any of the computer
  • Then let the other computer connect to that
  • Go to sharing center and there you now can transfer somefiles

The other way to connect to other computer is using a Lan cable. It is much faster comparet to a private network.

hope it help.

If you want to access your desktop from the laptop while you are in the school, you need to have two real IP addresses to assign to both the laptop and the desktop.

If you want to copy files to and from the desktop computer then share a folder in the desktop computer.

If you want to work in the desktop computer remotely, then you have to configure the desktop computer for remote login. For that right click on the ‘My Computer’ icon and select ‘Properties’.  Then click on the ‘Remote’ tab. Now check the ‘Allow users to connect remotely to this computer’ in Remote Desktop section. Click on ‘Select Remote Users’ button and add users to connect remotely.

Hi,

Now a day this is very common problem for users. But it is not a technological problem. This is our understand problem. As per your post you are using Dynamic IP. Please note Dynamic IP means when you are restarting your computer then your IP will change. So you need Static and Real IP for both computers. So that you can successfully connect each other computers.

Another way is there. You not need to change any current setting or IP settings. Just you need one software install in your both computer. Lots of free software you will get in the Internet but I am suggesting you that please download Team viewer software from http://www.bijoy.net/.

After Download this software, install it. When you start install this software you will get a option that how you want to use this. Please select non-commercial use. After install this software in both computers. Then open this software then you will get ID and password. Now you can share your desktop/laptop from anywhere in the world if you have online connection.
