Hallo,

My mini notebook laptop keeps on having issues. It advises me to reboot or get the correct boot device. Moreover, I am told to insert boot media in selected boot device before pressing any key. How should I go about this?

Thanks a lot.

Hi Jesica,

It seems your OS is faulty. You need to boot from Windows boot Disc, but it seems like you don't have a CDROM drive. So you need to boot from a Flash Drive. You need to make a bootable flash disk. There are many sites out there to help you make one. Here is a site – http://www.bootdisk.com/pendrive.htm . I hope this helps.

You may solve reboot or get the correct boot device problem by three ways. One:
Check if hard drive and motherboard are connected and cables are well. Clear of dust particles.
Two: Change BIOS setting.
Three: Check your hard disk and fix the problems. Go to start>Computer. Right click on hard drive and then properties>tools>error checking and perform error checking with fix problems automatically.

Ensure that your booting priority are set correctly. Enter your BIOS and check on the Boot Order. Make your DVD on number 1 and then boot from your Windows XP installation disk. Go to Recovery Options and select repair your computer and then follow the on-screen instructions. This will take some time.  When done repairing, restart your computer and go to BIOS boot order again and make your hard drive to boot first.

You can also choose the Command Prompt option and enter the following command:

Bootrec.exe /FixMbr

This will fix your Master Boot Record.
