What is meant by the data protection? How can we Protect and secure our data online and maintain the data safe using the System center 2012 data protection manager?
Protection of data is something which everyone needs to have in their life. Everyone holds some data where it can be their personal or office data any archive. But these days storing data and making it secure is much more important than getting into some trouble and giving ransom. So, using some sort of security to protect our data which only we can access then the outsiders is called as data protection.
To work with the System center 2012 data protection manager follow these steps:
We will be using the Windows Server 2012 r2
Step1: Download and Install the Windows server 2012 r2.
Step 2: If you are booting it with a CD then go CD and click on Run as administrator.
Step 3: It will open a utility which has all the various Option in which we have to choose the First Option which is data Protection manager.
Step 4: Now a utility will open and you can find that the setup is being installed.
Step 5: Now you will be taken to the Data protection manager setup.
Step 6: Now you need to choose which server system you want to work on better to choose the First one which will be SQL server not clustered.
Step 7: Now you need to write the name of your server. Every r2 server will be having a server before this process if you don’t have one create one else this whole process don’t work.
Step 8: Now click the button check and Install
Step 9: Now you will be taken to another step where you will be doing the Product registration.
Step 10: keep on clicking net until you are taken to a utility customer Experience Improvement Program.
Step 11: There you need to choose an option that you want work anonymously.
Step 12: Now keep on clicking net until reaching the last utility where the Installation process begins.
Step 13: Once the Installation process is completed you can find two Icons on your desktop.
Step 14: click on the Microsoft System center 2012 R2 DPM administration console.
Step 15: Then you will be taken to that console.
Step 16: Once you have been through that console then you can find something called agents in the left column click on that.
Step 17: Now you will have new utility showing options to pick. Click on Install agents.
Step 18: Now you are in the Protection Agent Installation Wizard.
Step 19: Now you need to select a computer from all the mentioned computers.
Step 20: Once you have selected the computer you need to set a username and password and all other security measures. And click next until you are taken to the last utility of the wizard.
Step 21: Let the wizard complete the whole Installation process for you.
Now if you want to protect your data which is any of your Hard disk/drivesadd them to the server and then follow these steps:
Step 22: Once you have added the disk go to the Protection which will be in the bottom left of your Wizard.
Step 23: Once you click on that you will be taken to anew wizard where you can find New on thetop left of the wizard. Click on that.
Step 24: once you have clicked on that new Button a New utility opens create new Protection group.
Step 25: Once you are in that step you need to select which files you want to protect and keep clicking next until you will be taken to the last step and wizards closes.
Once the wizard is closed that means your disk and files are now protected with the system center 2012 data protection manager.
