Program showing installation error after buying from internet

I bought a program from the internet and after I tried installing it, the following message appeared. How can this be happening?

Error (1004)

The following workaround will help you troubleshoot and resolve the runtime error that you are getting:

Go to the windows start button and right click.
Choose Explorer from the menu tab.
Open the following directory: C:Program FilesMSOfficeOfficeXLSTART
Look for the file named GWXL97.XLA and delete it.
After that close Explorer and then open the program that you were trying to install.
You should not get an error this time round
