Hello TechyV experts! I have a problem using my printer I hope you can help me on this one… We have an Old model of lexmark which is the 1100 model. When I bought a new computer that has Windows 7 OS and tried to install the printer, I followed the procedures and everything but the thing is,

Windows 7 can't detect the printer even if its already plugged in? Can anyone teach me on how I can make my printer work? Thanks!

Dear Spider01,

There might be a few reasons for the problem you are facing. Please do check if its only your computer or it is the printer's fault itself. You should also Google search the driver for the printer Lexmark 1100 that supports the OS Windows7.

Then download it and install the driver. Then restart the computer and re-connect the printer cable. If that doesn't work consider using a different cable for the connection or using a different port in the computer, preferably any of the other USB ports and it will most probably be installed and you will be able to use your printer.

Hope this solves your issue.

If your operating system can not detect the printer then you can not install its driver. The device should be detectable first so it can be installed. Otherwise, installing it would be impossible.

If your printer uses the printer port to connect to the computer instead of the USB port, then there’s no problem in detecting it. If this is your printer’s type and it can’t be detected by your system, you should bring it to a qualified service technician to have a thorough check on it.

If your printer is a USB type where it uses the computer’s USB port to connect, you can use the rest of the available USB ports of the CPU to connect if the first one doesn’t work. But if you already tried connecting on all of the available ports and still it can’t be detected, you should check if the printer’s USB cable is not damaged.

To make it easy, just replace the USB cable with a new one to be sure that it’ll work. You don’t need to install the printer’s driver if it still can’t be detected.

But if buying a new set of USB cable for the printer didn’t fix the problem then you should really bring it to a qualified service technician for further checking.
