Problem opening Word Documents in Windows Explorer

I’m having trouble opening a Word document file through Windows Explorer; it takes time to open it and if I will click the file again it will just froze up and of course I can’t do anything with it but to forced close the file and it will automatically close the Windows Explorer too. But if the file will be open through the Office Word directly, it works as it is. I’m using Office 2007 in my Windows XP Professional SP3 computer with latest versions and updated security program. I already tried to uninstall and re-install the program and run a diagnostic test but there are no existing issues. This happens with my MS Excel as well. Can you please help me fix this?

I have read your problem and I understand your situation. You have said that you are using MS Office 2007 and wanted to know how it can be fixed. This is a simple matter and here is the solution:

For resolving this issue in Word & Excel 2007, you have to go to the site named “Laserfiche” for an update.

You will find there a hotfix available for Laserfiche 7.2.x and Word 2007. After applying  this hotfix, Word 2007 no longer needs the "Send to Laserfiche.dot" file & your problem will be solved.

For more information about this hotfix, visit the following Laserfiche Web site:

https://support.laserfiche.com/kb/1011187

Note : This hotfix may require logon credentials.

Thank you.

If you can open the ms word 2007 document directly without having any issues, then I do not see that reason why you have to use windows explorer that is resulting to issues. The problem here is not with the word document but with the windows explorer.

You will need to do the following:

  • Troubleshoot problems with the windows explorer and remove them. If its registry entries and corrupt, run ccleaner to fix the problem with the registry entries.
  • Instead of using windows explorer to open the word documents, open them directly to avoid getting the issues you are getting right now when you open the documents.
