Installing Windows XP SP3 did not complete

Hi all,

Our company is currently upgrading our inventory application. While I am on the process of installing the new application, it stopped immediately, because it needs windows home with service pack 3.

So I downloaded from the internet the service pack, while I was installing the service pack, an error occurred.

It says that installation did not complete.

Service Pack 3 Setup Error

Service Pack 3 installation did not complete.

Windows XP has been partially updated and may not work properly.

After I read the error message, my analysis is the file that I downloaded might be corrupted, so I downloaded again and install the service pack 3, same error displayed. I checked on my antivirus that it might blocked the installation but it is not.

So I am now wondering why I can't install service pack 3?

Please help me find some solution.

Thanks.

Hello Gregorywelts,

I have gone through your problem that you have submitted and I know the reason of it. This solution will be better if I tell you the causes of this problem at first and then go with the solution. So I am doing this now.

Many updates during windows update creates this problem. So do not select update automatically during installation process.

Now, please do the followings:

  • Reboot your computer and Go to safe mood.
  • If you are unsure going to Safe mood, Press F8 while rebooting your computer.
  • After safe mood menu appears, press enter.
  • Safe mode window will be opened.
  • Go to control panel and select Add or Remove Program.
  • Now select Installed updates button and uninstall all the updates.
  • Reboot your computer

I think your problem is solved

Thank You

If you want to make a update in your window components then there is a folder located in side window named as 1386 and it is available in all SP3 windows CD so you can use this folder to make a update in your windows components.

If you want to install a fresh copy for SP3 you have to remove all data from your drive to make it efficient and it can be done by format the drive fully. After you done make a new copy of SP3 and then implement it will work fine. If you are working with a mirror file of window or such file which is compressed then see that it has exactly extracted in your directory.

If you are downloading from  a Cd of SP3 then make sure Cd is working fine.

These are the solutions I can tell you for your problem. I hope you like them.
