Hi Judyp,

The first thing you need to check is the dell's model number. You can do this by checking the back of your computer or you can open up the command window. To open the command window click on the start menu and type 'cmd' (without the quotes) and then click on the first and result.

Once you are in the command prompt type the following command 'wmic csproduct get name' (without the quotes). The model number will then be displayed. Once you get the product number log into the dell official page and click on the support tab.

Then go to software and drivers where they will ask you to identify your product. Do so and select your operating system as windows 7. A list of drivers will appear. Select 'input devices' and there you will find the specific driver for your dell webcam.

Simply download it and install it then restart your computer. You are done.

Good luck.

Hi Judyp,

Window 7 has your webcam drivers but if it is not working then I am mentioning two methods, hope these helps you.

  1. Change the compatibility setting of the Dell webcam central software to Windows Vista (Service Pack 2). Here are the steps you need to follow:

    1. Close the Dell webcam central software.
    2. Go to Computer/C/program files/dell webcam/
    3. Double-click Dell Webcam Central.
    4. locate the WebcamDell2 file.
    5. Right-click the WebcamDell2 file.
    6. Select Properties.
    7. Click the Compatibility tab.
    8. Click to check the box next to Run this program in compatibility mode for.
    9. Using the drop-down menu select Windows Vista (Service Pack 2).
    10. Click Apply.
    11. Click OK.

If you still get an error then proceed to the second step

  1. Reinstall the webcam driver.

To reinstall the webcam driver, perform the following steps.

    1. Close any applications that are currently using the webcam (this may include web pages). Save and close any applications that you are currently working on as the computer will need to restart.
    2. Right – Click Computer.
    3. Click Properties.
    4. Click Device Manager in the upper left-hand corner.
    5. Click Imaging devices.
(When there is not a listing for Imaging Devices,
    6. Right-click the Integrated webcam or USB camera.
    7. Click Uninstall.
    8. Confirm the uninstall process by clicking OK.
    9. Once uninstalled restart the computer.
    10. It will pick the driver itself and install it.

Hope it works.
