Problem after downloading from iTunes

Hi, your assistance please! I have the computer program Windows XP 600GB HD, 4GB rm and it’s been working well before.

The problem arose unexpectedly after I made some downloads.

I tried to download at iTunes but the download stopped halfway. Afterwards, I got the following prompt messages:  “The older version of bonjour could not be removed” and “Apple Software update could not be removed’.

From then on, I was unable to install and download music files from iTunes and also, error messages with filename “MSI” would appear. By the way, what is MSI? What could have caused the errors?

How could I troubleshoot this?

Thank you.

Hello Atwoods,

An MSI error occurs when some components of the system are corrupt and you will need to fix them using the following procedure:

  • Open Control Panel and then click Administrative Tools and then Services
  • Right click on the Remote Procedure Call Service in the next window
  • Thereafter Select the Log In Tab
  • Then Select Log As "Local System account" and check the box that has "Allow service to interact with desktop"

Alternatively, you can try the following:
Locate the windows installer service and start it.

  1. Click Start and then run, and then type Services.msc and press {ENTER} on the keyboard.
  2. Double-click on the Windows Installer
  3. In the window that will open set the Startup type of Windows Installer to Manual
  4. Next click Start to start the service and then click OK.

Run registry repair programs too.
