Problem with access to shared folders

Hi

I have installed R2 SP in my server 2008.

Pervasive SQL and active directory, as well some shared printers, mapped network drives and a shared folder that is on its second array of hard disks is maintained by this server. Recently I have a problem that some of the domain computers sort of disconnect.  To recover access to the server shared folders they have to close their session and log on again.

The clients who have used windows XP Pro SP3 don’t see any problems; already they checked the entire network infrastructure and everything works fine. In past we used this server but this problem didn't happen.

Need your help. Thanks.

This is a clear case of session drop. There are few things that you need to change in order to see what the problem does when it happens.

  1. Increase the time of each session. Means the disconnection timeout must be increased so that it won't disconnect after certain activity all by itself.
  2. There might be an ip conflict between two clients and as soon as the system detects it, one of the clients gets disconnected from the session.
  3. Try to define the entry levels for each type of users. Too much burden on the same level might cause the session to break down and the clients gets disconnected.
