Some of my users have encountered problems when printing from PowerPoint 32bit 2010. When they open the presentation for the first time, they manage to print it, but if they open the second time a printer status window appears and it just stops. If they restart the PowerPoint the same thing happens again in the exact same order. Can anyone give me an idea?

Hi John,
Print spooler can be an issue here, you can try to restart the service and see if it can be stopped and restarted. However, if printing works on other application then it can be an issue with Power point. You can try if there are a lot of instances of Powerpoint service running in MSCONFIG. Try to stop all power point or ppt services that are in the list. Then try to print again, if problem persist then try to do a repair on PPT.

If you are trying to print the same presentation the second time but it doesn’t print instead it displays the printer status, try restarting Microsoft Office PowerPoint before doing a second print. You restart by closing Microsoft Office PowerPoint and then launching it again. See if this works.

If this doesn’t work and you still can’t print the same presentation the second time, try clearing the print spooler or the print queue. To clear the print queue or print spooler in Microsoft Windows, click “Start”, “Control Panel”, “Performance and Maintenance”, “Administrative Tools” then “Services”. In “Services” window, scroll down and look for the “Print Spooler” service, right-click it then select “Stop”.

After this, open Windows Explorer then navigate to “C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS”. Delete all the files in this folder. Once the folder is empty, go back to the “Services” window, right-click “Print Spooler”, and then select “Start”. This should now allow you to print again. See if this works.
