Hi everyone,

I am trying to edit a file using Photoshop but an error has been made during this whole process. I tried to do the same thing as mentioned in an error image. Your assistance would be really appreciated. Thanks!

This item isn’t directly editable in Photoshop, but it can be placed in a document. To place the item, drag it into an open document.

Pleases Help Adobe Photoshop Editable Error

This problem is related to the feature added to Photoshop CC 2015.1 which introduced the ability to copy and paste assets from other Adobe applications and link them to your Creative Cloud Libraries or CC Libraries as a library-linked-asset.

That’s why when you attempt to edit that asset in Photoshop, the error message “This item isn't directly editable in Photoshop, but it can be placed in a document. To place the item, drag it into an open document” appears. To fix the problem and be able to edit the asset, start the application where the asset was created and double-click the asset in the Libraries panel.

For example, if the asset was created using Adobe Illustrator, start Adobe Illustrator then double-click the asset in the Libraries panel to edit it. Once this is done, go back to Photoshop and see the asset updated in your document. On the other hand, if you don’t want to link the asset in your Libraries panel, uncheck “Add to my current library” in the Paste dialog box in Photoshop.

When you do this, the asset is embedded into the document instead of linking it to your Libraries panel.
