I got a "Paper Mismatch" error when trying to print on my HP printer. I never changed my cartridges yet and this has been working well for a long time. I tried the print test and it still had the same issue. I am also using the original cartridges from HP. How can I fix this?

When printing with your printer, you may receive one of the following errors:

  • Paper Mismatch
  • Paper Size Mismatch

This error message is necessary when printing to make sure ink is not wasted when the paper settings in the print driver don’t match with the paper loaded in the printer. This error is not technical or hardware related. The problem here is with the print settings in your application.

Like for example, when you are printing a document with Microsoft Office Word, in Microsoft Office Word press CTRL + P to open the Print settings then go to “Page Setup”. Go to “Paper” tab and select the correct size of the paper. When you are finished, click “OK”. Next, remove or unload all the paper from the printer input tray then reload the paper.

Adjust the paper width guides so they gently rest against the edge of the paper stack.
