I am using MS Outlook Express for emailing.  When I get an email that contains a link and decide to click it, I always get a blank page at the other end.  What is the cause for this?

Check and see whether IE is your default browser. To do this, open up your Internet Explorer, look for Tools at the top, click on it and go to Internet Options. Look for the tick box that checks to see if IE your default browser and check it. Close your IE, reopen it and then check your email hyperlinks.

If that didn’t work, try to restart your browser your web settings. Go back to Internet Options through Tools, click on Programs this time and look for Reset Web settings. Click on the button, click OK and then restart your IE.

If you recently upgraded to IE 7 and the issues arose from there, check out this Microsoft article discussing this particular problem:

Hope all that helps!

I use Microsoft Office Outlook before and whether you are using Microsoft Office Outlook or Microsoft Outlook Express, there’s no difference with the way you open links or follow links. A single click normally opens the link with the default browser. Now, if you always end up with a blank page when following links, there must be something wrong with your default browser.

If your default browser is Microsoft Internet Explorer, try changing it and use other browser as your computer’s default browser. To set a browser as your computer’s default browser, for example with Mozilla Firefox, click the menu and select “Options”. In “General”, under “Startup” section, click “Make Default” and that’s it.

Now, when you click a link in Microsoft Outlook Express, it will open Mozilla Firefox to open the link you clicked.
