Hi guys,

My OpenOffice.org encountered a problem for Java Runtime Environment (JRE). It indicates that the JRE is defective. Look at the message. It says “OpenOffice.org requires a java runtime environment (JRE) to perform this task. The selected JRE is defected. Please select another version or install a new JRE and select it under Tools – Option – OpenOffice.org – Java”.

Please help me to fix the problem.

Hi Pamela,

Sometimes this will occurs due to the version of JRE installed on your machine. Before downloading you have check the System Requirements. Here is the link of system requirements. http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/source/sys_reqs_aoo34.html  First uninstall the Open Office from your system then uninstall the JRE from your system. Then restart the machine and install the latest version of JRE After that download the latest version of OpenOffice and install it. There will be unexpected bugs during the execution of the software. In such case you can post a bug on open office forum. Here is the link. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50371&redirected_from=fdo  eventually developers will fix the bug. You can read more regarding this issue by visiting this thread. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50371&redirected_from=fdo

Hope this is helpful.
