Good day to all,

I am sharing my experience here while re-installing Microsoft Office in my computer. I removed Microsoft Office in my computer for the reason that I am under attack by some virus and my Microsoft Office applications was affected. While I am on the process of re-installation an error message appeared on my screen:

Excel, word outlook or powerpoint must be pre-installed

Installer Information

Office XP application Excel, Word, Outlook or PowerPoint must be pre-installed. Higher versions work fine.

The error message above is so strange to understand, that is why I am now asking for some help here. Please take some time in commenting on my issue. Thanks.

Hi,

To solve this problem there are two workarounds solutions:

Solution 1:

1. Make sure that Office 2010 is already installed on your machine.
2. First Install Excel 2007 or the earlier versions and then install Xcelsius.
3. Once it’s installed you can uninstall Excel.
4. Xcelsius will revert to Excel 2010 as Xcelsius works with Office 2010 and the problem is that just the installer does not recognize it.

Solution 2:

If  you don’t want to reinstall Excel 2007 you can also modify the Xcelsius.msi file to prevent it from checking the version of Office on your computer.

You can use this program “instead” to read the MSI file which you can find at this link I have provided.

Don’t forget to create a backup of the MSI file before you make any changes to the file to be on a safer side.

Thanks.

Hello,

This is a problem that you have pre installed latest Office version before. You cannot install old versions after installing new ones. May be auto updates or something doing that. But this so simple and remove your all versions and try again. If not go to Control panel and Remove your old program. If isn’t it cleanup your system disk by Start > all programs. Accessories>system tools. And another final solution is just clean up your registry by Registry cleaning software found by internet easy. Good luck, Those steps will work.
