The new defy has been described by some as a blackberry running on android. The blackberry comment comes based on the look of the new defy which looks slightly similar to a blackberry. Gone is the 3.7-inch display in the old model to be replaced by a 2.7-inch display to accommodate the QWERTY keyboard. It still comes with all the features of being water resistant, dust resistant and human outdoor lifestyle resistant (that is why they call it Lifeproof) and is equipped with the Corning Gorilla Glass. The new defy has retained the 5MP camera found on the old model.

The Motorola Defy Lifeproof is Motorola’s new budget Android Smartphone. It is a semi-rugged handset that looks like any other normal phone. But even if it has a rugged design, this handset is dust proof, scratch and water resistant. It runs on Android 2.1 with 480 x 854 pixels screen resolution and weighs only 118 grams.

Even if it has a promising future, Motorola received a negative PR from the BBC Watchdog show. The show received several numbers of complaints from Motorola Defy owners. The Motorola Company has an advertisement showing the handset surviving a very huge drop on the dance floor. But it seems that what was shown in the commercial was really only an advertisement.

The toughness wasn’t real after all. But it seems that Motorola is charging for repairs after owners accidentally dropped their Smartphone. What their customer service representatives are saying is that the mobile phone isn’t actually a resistant to fractures or unbreakable.
