New hard disk with a password

I recently bought a western digital 320 GB ultra portable hard drive while I was on a travel trip. The problem is that when I reached home and opened it from its packing, upon connecting it asked for a password.

I checked the manual but there seems to be no reset password or in fact any kind of password.

I can’t return it because I bought it from another town and lost the receipt while on the trip but its brand new and in packing so I guess there must be some, factory reset password.

Please if anyone knows about how to reset the password do reply?

Hello Scot Stunner, You can follow some steps. There are many software over the internet which provides the password recovery. You can try them all. Secondly, set the hard disk in your motherboard as the primary device. then boot your windows from the CD ROM.

While you see the hard disk in a raw format delete the whole thing and then you will be able to format it. This is how you will be able to remove the password.
