The newly released Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.1 can do some magnificent magic with pictures. What are the special features over the Adobe PhotoShop CS4?

Both Lightroom and Photoshop perform different functions from each other. They exhibit their own strengths compared to each other yet they are not considered as rivals. Adobe Photoshop is well known for being a top pixel manipulator. It can create images that completely satisfy what was on your imagination. Photoshop is a great tool for image enhancing, but organizing those digital images is not part of its functions.

This is where Lightroom stands out. Adobe Lightroom performs functions such as sorting, searching and organizing digital images. It can assist you from the very start of the project up to the end. It also effectively manages your imaging workflow and setting preliminary raw file translation. These are the special features available to Lightroom and not to Photoshop.

The New Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.1

Adobe Lightroom 4 is an older version. Here’s the latest version, Adobe Lightroom 5. It was in June 9, 2013 when Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 was officially released. It has been available in the beta format since April 15, 2013. It supports Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and higher, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Mac OS X 10.7 Lion and higher.

It requires 2 GB RAM though 4 GB is recommended. Here are some of the modifications in this latest edition:

• Radial Gradient used to highlight or emphasize an elliptical or oblique area.
• It has now an advanced healing / cloning brush that can be used to brush the spot removal tool over an area.
• Now includes Smart Previews that will allow a user to work with off-line images.
• It is now capable of saving custom layouts in the Book module.
• Added support for PNG file format.
• Added support for video files in slideshows.
• The Upright feature can straighten slanted images with a single click. The tool analyzes the images and distinguishes tilted horizontal and vertical lines.
• With the improved photo book creation feature, you can produce beautiful photo books out of your images.
