Network problem in Window vista and Windows XP.

Good day. I’m trying to connect to my other computer by remote desktop connection from my laptop. My other computer has Windows XP Media Center edition and my laptop has Windows Vista Home Basic edition. I can view my other computer's shared files by typing "\(and the computer name)" on to the address bar thing. So I definitely have a network. But if I type the computer name on remote desktop connection it won't work!

Am I having network problem? Help please!

Network problem in Window vista and Windows XP.

The problem like this occurs because of the discovery protocol LLTD (Link Layer Topology Discovery) Responder missing in the Window XP, during the connection the network map in the window vista formulates the network diagram of the network connected devices for troubleshooting and network map uses the LLTD protocol for this purpose.

To solve this problem download the Link Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) Responder package for the Windows XP service pack2. If you have the XP Service Pack 3 you need to install Hotfix for SP3 this will install the LLTD in your computer, this will probably solve your problem.
