Hello Rebecca,

When installing a parallel device like printers or scanners, you may follow the following steps below:

1. Check cable connections.

*It is recommended to disconnect the device first while installing the printer to prevent issues. You may want to connect first the parallel data cable to the back of the printer then to the back of the computer.

2. BIOS or CMOS setup.

*Make sure that the LPT port mode is properly set. LPT port configuration differs based on the Manufacturer and Model of the computer.

3. Install Driver for the printer.

*Driver is needed to ensure that printer's full functionality will be used. Each purchased printer has its own driver included or you may want to download it.

Hope this helps.

Connect your printer to your system using the parallel port or USB cable.

The system will automatically recognize the newly installed hardware. It will ask for a driver.

Insert the CD driver into the CD ROM drive.

Turn the printer on and follow the steps in the Add new hardware Wizard in Windows.

Browse your files to where the driver is located.

Follow the prompts for installation.

Enjoy your newly installed printer and start printing.
