Hello everyone,

I have been using Mac Operating System but got the error message using my app introcs.app that it has damaged and can’t be open. Is there any way to recover this app? If you could help then will be appreciated. Thanks!

In OS X operating system, you are not allowed to install applications that don’t come from the Mac App Store. This is Apple’s method of securing the system. When trying to install unsigned apps or applications that were not downloaded from the Mac App Store, it will display an error message saying the file is damaged and can’t be opened.

Sometimes this is true especially when the file was not completely downloaded. But if you know the file downloaded successfully, you just need to make OS X allow you to install the app. To do this, click on the Apple menu and go to System Preferences and then Security & Privacy. In General tab, under “Allow applications downloaded from”, select Anywhere.

When you are prompted, just click Allow From Anywhere. After this, double-click on introcs.app to initiate the installation. This time, you will see a dialog box asking you if you want to open it instead of a message that says the file is damaged and can’t be opened. Once the installation completes, simply revert the setting to “Mac App Store and identified developers” in Security & Privacy.
