Laptop won’t open after being splashed by water

I am really having a bad day. My laptop cannot be used. My little brother splashed a glass of water on it. I dried it with a cloth and tried turning it on with just a battery, it won’t work. So I tried turning it on using the power adapter and too bad it would not turn on as well.

I am so irritated about what happened. I need all my files in my laptop and I also don’t want to buy a new one. For me, it is not practical. I want to know if I can use a drier to dry it. I have not tried that as I am not sure if it’s okay. Please help me get my laptop running again.

Thanks.

Hi

If you can't run your laptop anymore after getting splashed on with water this probably means the hardware is short circuited and no longer working. I'm sorry to say that you have no choice but to actually buy a new one or you can try taking it to your computers service center for repair. Drying it just with cloth and turning it off was a bad idea, you failed to consider the water that could have gone inside of your system. So once you turned on your computer that way, as electricity went in your system, the inside got short circuited because it was wet. You should have waited for a while to dry your system before turning it on.

You can try waiting using a blower to try and dry the inside of your system but I doubt it would work after what happened.

You may need to try these steps before you buy another one and let's say that buying another one will be the last and final solution so you need to follow my steps first and I think it's a good solution that may help you but you should be patient and the tools that you will use in this are cloth to clean up your laptop, dryer to make your laptop dry and be patient and have time for making your laptop dry and now follow these steps in cleaning up your laptop.

First Shutdown your laptop and by using the cloth clean up the liquid but be careful and don't make motion like wiping motion not to let the liquid spread into the other laptop parts. Now you need to remove every connected parts with your laptop like external hard drives as example and of course clean them up too if they have any liquid through them and please don't take apart casing not to damage your internal parts of your laptop so be careful with that and after that all you can rotate and move the laptop from side to another side to drain out any water or liquid inside it and now this is the time for using your dryer to dry your laptop so you need to dry it for 1 hour at least and you need to leave it a day at least so be patient till your laptop is completely dry and now you can get back your parts that you removed like external hard drives or any device you want to connect to your laptop and after that all and finally you can turn on your laptop.

I hope it will be all right and if not i think you may need to go repair service and don't buy one now just go to repair service as may internal parts of your laptop are damaged not all but may be one of them but i hope this solution helps you at that moment.
