My DVD detects a CD but cannot play it

My DVD player is able to detect a CD but cannot play it. I have tried many things including lowering the resolution. This is all to no positive results. There is something that I have always noted every time I log on to my computer and perhaps it may explain my problem; I keep getting a message that my ccregvfy.exe file has a problem. Could this be connected to the problem with the DVD? Whether yes or not, please help me deal with the problem.

You will  need to use the following steps to fix the "ccregvfy.exe file has a problem" error just in case it is the one causing the content on the CDs not to be played.

  • On your computer you will need to go to Start and then type Run in the search box and then press Enter on the Keyboard.
  • In the windows that will open, type in msconfig and then click OK.
  • You will then need to click on the Startup tab.
  • And then untick the entry that refers to ccRegVfy.exe
  • You will also need to untick any other entry that is related to the ccregvfy.exe file above and then click OK.

Once you are through with all those steps, reboot your computer and then try using a CD again.

If you keep getting an error when you log in and you can’t play a DVD movie, check if the file indicated in the error belongs to the media player you are using or it is located in the installation folder of your media player. That filename “ccregvfy.exe” appears to be related to the program’s registration verification. Check if the media player is in trial version.

If you are using the trial version, check the remaining days. If the program is expired, try downloading a new version or download a different media player. Try downloading VLC media player. Another alternative is MPlayer for Windows for users with slow computers. This allows you to play HD movies even on low-end machines.
