Hi experts,

When I was on my field work to address some client concern, I came across a user who want to use Microsoft Project, so I asked them for their installer and installed it. while installing I encountered this error, I pasted below the screenshot.

Error 1920. Service 'Office Software Protection Platform' (osppsvc) failed to start. Verify you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

When I checked on the error, it involves for some privileges. Before doing it, I restarted the computer, so as to get a fresh start. when I checked on the rights, the user name that I used has all the rights. So I re-install again the application, but same error message appeared on the screen while installing, I am now run of ideas on the issue.

Please help me find a solution.

Some Antivirus blocks the installation and registry of legitimate programs like Microsoft, stopping to be installed successfully. Please follow the instructions below:

  1. close all applications
  2. restart your computer
  3. click Start
  4. open RUN.
  5. type lusrmgr.msc, then press OK.
  6. select Groups
  7. double click Administrator
  8. click Add
  9. click Advanced
  10. click Find Now
  11. search and select Network Service and press Ok
  12. click OK again.

Now you can install your Microsoft Project Standard 2010

This error occurred during installation because of the Antivirus block the application or there is incompatibility process between Windows and Microsoft Office 2010. Windows must be in Service Pack 3 so that you can continue installing the Microsoft Office 2010.

Sometimes the CD installer is damaged. I hope these tips can help you. Just try to follow the first post.

Thank you and God be with you.
