Hi,

There are a number of common issues why the mouse won't move. Here is the list;

1. Mouse Pointer is not moving smoothly.
2. It freezes.
3. It won't work at all.
4. Too slow and or too fast.
5. Having a hard time doing double click.

Here are the steps to keep your mouse running.

Still you have control. Or you may kill the application by doing the task manager.
* Wires mi* Check the mouse surface, it might not smooth enough to move. You may need a mouse pad for this to keep moving.

* This is caused by CPU usage, it might reach 100% capacity and it hung-up. No solution (different issue CPU usage 100%) for this but weight not be connected at all, maybe it's loose.

* Go to control panel, mouse and pointing and change the speed you want.
* Configure the double click speed. Control panel, mouse pointing devices and mouse double click, choose the appropriate timing of the click you want.

Hi Mr Coniglio,

First of all, I would like to thank you for giving your trust and giving your question in this site, well, regarding to your problem there are few steps that you should do so that you will used your mouse smoothly and no hassles.

Actually, your problem is same with my problem, optical mouse, but when I follow all these steps, my mouse is was already okay now, and I'm advising you to follow these steps also:

First, look at the obvious steps, like if the mouse is connected to your pc or laptop or your mouse is compatible with the laptop or pc that you're using. Because sometimes, optical mouse really look for the compatibleness of the windows where it is connected.

I advice you to find the packaging of your mouse and read the label, if your window is window 7 make sure that your mouse is compatible with window 7 because if happened that its not compatible, well, expect that there will be some problem or delays that you will be experiencing.

Second, if all these steps was perfectly perform and still, you experiencing delays, I think its time for you to check the connection of your mouse and if happen that the connection is good, look at your mouse pad maybe there are a lot of residue or dust that makes your mouse not performing well.

And if happened again that your mouse pad is clean, well, I advising you to check on the mouse, maybe the residue or the dust was inside your mouse and if happen there really a residue, just used a dry cotton to clean it up, because it is optical, it will be a risk for you to clean it with alcohol.

Third, since according to you, it's a new one, well, maybe this step will really help you, according to you "When I start my computer then it has no problem. But when I click my mouse my mouse cursor will hang. But then if I restart my computer so mouse cursor will active for the second time PC starting."

So the problem was really on the movement of your mouse, if you experiencing an odd movement of your mouse, check your pc or laptop if it has an anti-virus, because sometime, virus can cause a delays in the movement of your mouse, but if you have an anti-virus, check for the available space of your pc or laptop, if you have already downloaded a lot of software in your pc or laptop this can cause delays or hang in the cursor of your mouse or even in your pc or laptop.

Delete those software or files that are not important to you and always check your hard disk to know if the memory of your pc or laptop is still available for new hardware installation.

This is my last advice to you, if the above advices are properly execute but still the performance of your mouse is same, try this last advice, check your computer mouse driver. To do this, your have to go to the "START" button that can be found in your desktop in the left side, then click. After clicking, point the cursor (if you're using a laptop you can do it by touching the touch pad). Then right click, then drop down menu will appear, find "MANAGE", then click.

After clicking, you can see in the box title "COMPUTER MANAGEMENT" then look for "DEVICE MANAGER", click the "DEVICE MANAGER" menu, you can see a lot of icons like batteries, computer, disk drives and many other.

Then click the "MICE AND OTHER POINTING DEVICES" click that menu, and check if their is a "HID-COMPLIANT MOUSE", this is the indication that you successfully installed your optical mouse.

If you can see some yellow icon or you don't see the "HID-COMPLIANT MOUSE" it means that your pc or laptop did not detect your mouse. If that will happen then you have to restart your pc or laptop or uninstall your mouse, then after restarting, you can install it again and see if it is successfully done.

But if my last advice didn't work, try to bring the mouse in the store where did you buy it, and ask the owner if you can change the mouse that you purchase and tell him/her the whole story and the problem of the mouse, so that if the mouse has really defect, you can easily change it.
