To resolve this issue, the user needs to set their email's SMTP server to the MSN SMTP server. Users do not need any computing skills to perform this, just make sure that you read and follow all the onscreen instructions properly. And ensure that you type on the SMTP servers correctly since this field is very tricky and the MS Outlook Express copy can be incorrectly be inhibit when accessing emails.

First of all, go to the Account Settings on the Tools menu. Select the account that you want to change under the Mail tab. And then click the Properties button.

Click the Server tab and then search for the Server Information section. Remove whatever is occupying on the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) field and then type smtp.live.com.

Search for the Outgoing Mail Server section and tick the My Server Requires Authentication check box and then click the Settings button. Search for the Login Information section and then Log On to it.

Enter the MSN Member ID on the Account Name text field. Followed by the MSN Member ID Password and then tick the Log On Using Secure Password Authentication check box.

Click the OK button to close the Outgoing Mail Server dialog box and click OK to close the MAil Account Properties dialog box. Close the window to end the process.

Hi there Pepessuit,

In order to fix this error, your Outlook Express should be set up to allow the SMTP server to relate to any Microsoft network program SMTP’s server address.

First, Open the Outlook Express, go to the “Accounts” option by clicking “Tools” on the menu bar. A dialog window labeled “Accounts” will appear. Select the “Mail” tab and select the e-mail account that you want to modify. Click the account and then click on the “Properties” button, then click the “Server” tab. Delete all information in the “Outgoing Mail(SMTP)” under the section “Server Information”. Type smtp.live.com in the now emptied text box. Select the checkbox beside “My Server Requires Authentication” for the “Outgoing Mail Server” section. Then click the “Settings” button. Select “Log On Using” below the “Login Information” section.

In the “Account Name” textbox, input your MSN username; put the correct password in the “Password” text box and select “Log On Using Secure Password Authentication” checkbox. Press “OK” and close the Properties window. Then close the program and restart your computer system. Reopen the Outlook Express and sync your e-mail accounts. The error should no longer trouble you.

Hope your problem gets solved soon. For any tech info, do not forget to take help from TechyV.
