Microsoft Office 2007 upgrade to 2007 setup error encountered.

Previously I have installed Microsoft Office 2007 in my Microsoft Windows 7 Operating System. When Microsoft Office 2010 arrives, I have upgraded my Office 2007 to Microsoft Office 2010. During the installation process, I encountered setup errors saying my product installation is corrupted.

My installation disk is the original copy from Microsoft and I believed that was not counterfeited because I bought it from a reliable store which is a Microsoft partner in our area. So there’s no room for doubt that my copy is counterfeited. Here’s the error message.

Setup Errors

This product installation has been corrupted. Run setup again from the CD,DVD,

or other original installation source.

Nope, the error message does not tell you that your installer CD is a counterfeit. It is just informing you that the installer itself is corrupted or in simple word, defective.

The defectiveness of an installer CD is not based whether it is full of scratches or it has many finger prints in it. There are many installer CDs that are full of scratches and sometimes the owner doesn’t mind if he’s holding the sensitive part of the CD or not.

You might have gotten a defective CD when you bought it from the store. You cannot blame the store owner if it is really a manufacturer’s defect. I know you can still return the CD and replace it with a working one.

Hi,

You cannot blame the fact that you have an installer that is defective. Sometimes this occurs when the DVD or CD rom you are using is the one that cause the installer not to run.

Check your DVD-ROM if its ok. If you find out that the DVD-ROM is broke, then try to use other DVD-ROM for installation.

Another way also is to try to uninstall Microsoft 2007.

Uninstalling Microsoft using Ccleaner. Download it from this link

Just follow the instructions until proper installation is finished.

  • Locate the CCleaner in the RECYCLE BIN desktop and right click on it.
  • Then open CCleaner and uninstall it.

  • Then re-install your Microsoft 2010 and unplug any internet connection you have. This will prevent the system to automatically find any updates driver that might cause the corruption of the installer.

If the problem still persists, then return it to the store for warranty.

Hi,

The problem for this is storage of your Microsoft CD which you are using to re-install.

The CD you are using might be corrupt or scratched.

You need to re-copy the CD again or do a CD writing using the NERO burner to make a new copy.

Then try to use this new copy and you will notice the difference.

That problem is definitely caused by the installer. If there is a problem with the installer or the installation media like possible data corruption on some files, setup will really not complete. If you are installing Microsoft Office 2010 from a DVD disc, try cleaning the lens of your optical drive. You can use the lens cleaner for your DVD player to clean your optical drive.

After cleaning the lens, wipe the surface of the Microsoft Office 2010 setup DVD with a soft clean cloth to remove any dirt or moisture from your fingers. Wipe the surface in a circular motion. When everything is finished, try installing Microsoft Office again and see if it works. If this doesn’t work, just download Microsoft Office again from the Microsoft website.

Head down to Download Earlier Versions of Office and download Microsoft Office 2010. Here, you need to enter your Microsoft Office 2010 product key to verify your product and to allow you to download.
