I think the actual problem here is not with COMSOL Multiphysics but with your MATLAB program because the problem started even before it is installed. This is probably because COMSOL Multiphysics is somewhat associated to MATLAB that’s why the installation wizard checks if MATLAB is properly installed though MATLAB doesn’t appear in the system requirements of COMSOL Multiphysics.

You don’t actually have any incompatibility issue here because your operating system is supported. For Microsoft Windows 32-bit, it supports Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 and later, Windows Server 2008, Windows XP Service Pack 3 and later, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8. For Microsoft Windows 64-bit, it supports Windows HPC Server 2008, Windows HPC Server 2008 R2, Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003 Service Pack 1 and later, Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 and later, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 and later, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.

To install COMSOL Multiphysics and to make it work properly, it’s obvious that you need to fix the problem with MATLAB. Uninstall MATLAB, restart your computer, and then install it back. After this, try installing COMSOL Multiphysics. If you wish to download the latest version of COMSOL Multiphysics, visit Download COMSOL 4.3b.

You need to create an account first before you can download the program.
