I have partitioned 15 GB hard disk into two 7.5 GB each. I did this one for Ubuntu and other for free space. But when I start to install, it gives the error message saying " the Ext 3 file system creation in partition #g of IDE 1 master (hda) failed". Here is the error snapshot:

Hi,

You have created a partition for Ubuntu but you did not think about Ubuntu’s requirements. Ubuntu is a big operating system. It is larger than Linux. So you can not install it in 7.5 GB hard disk space. You need more disk space for Ubuntu.

Generally Ubuntu required 20 GB disk space but when you can install it in 15 GB or 12 GB at least. For this you have to select the size of Ubuntu installation at the time of its beginning. When this card appear you can select installation size at here. Select minimum space from here and install it.
