Linking two PoE switches from Netgear

I've been trying to link two PoE switches from Netgear, a GS724TP and GS7728TP. When I activate the link between two switches and have the POE phone plugged in the GS728TP, the phone will not boot. If I remove the link, however, the phone boots up fine. Has anyone else had this issue? Can somebody suggest a fix for this?

Hi Corey, PoE or Power over Ethernet ports on EX type of series. These ports allows you to plug in computers or hubs that necessarily needs network connectivity and electricity. Network cables like say Cat5 & 6 consists of 8 stranded wires arranged in 4 twisted pairs. In 10 and 100 Base T ethernet two of these pairs are used for sending and receiving information and known in the computer world as data pairs. Because electrical currents flow in a loop, the positive & the negative, two conductors are naturally required to deliver power over the ethernet. As such, your phone will naturally stay dormant and won’t hook up since they are contrasting with one another like a oil and water.
