Hi. I totally understand your condition. Anyway, diagnosing the internet and learning how to connect to the internet is not that difficult a task. Let me suggest you two ways for the same.
• Steps to set up a cable internet connection
First you need to ensure that the cable of the modem is plugged into the computer. Next, connect the computer to the socket on the wall. Then, switch on the modem by plugging in its power cord. Initially, the modem will go through a boot process which usually takes nearly 30-60 seconds for the modem to start properly. Also, make sure that the ISP has information about your modem in case you have bought a new one and also the MAC address as well as the serial number of the modem should be present on the bottom of the modem. After the modem turns on, check the internet connection by surfing any website on Google.
• Steps to set up a DSL internet connection
First you need to ensure that the cable of the DSL modem is plugged into the computer. Next, connect the computer to the socket on the wall. Then, switch on the DSL modem by plugging in its power cord. Initially, the DSL modem will go through a boot process which usually takes nearly 30-60 seconds for the DSL modem to start properly. Also, make sure that the ISP has information about your DSL modem in case you have bought a new one. After the booting process is completed, open the web browser and type the IP address of the modem in the address bar. Then, in the PPPoE protocol field, enter the username and password of your DSL modem. Save the settings and wait till all the lights on the modem turn green. Towards the end, check your internet connection by opening Google.

There are different ways how you can connect to the internet. The best option is to subscribe for a monthly-billed internet service such as DSL for wired internet. It is called “wired” because it uses a cable that connects you directly to the ISP or internet service provider. The cable used is fiber optics which delivers a very fast and stable connection speed.
This is quite expensive though but will surely deliver the best internet experience. Another option you can try is wireless internet like 4G which most of the ISPs also offer. It also offers fast connection speed but unlike DSL, 4G internet is quite unstable with varying internet speed. That’s the downside of being wireless.
The download and upload speeds varies depending on the network load or how many people are using the 4G network. A 4G internet also uses a router and an outdoor antenna which is directly connected to the router. I am using a 4G internet and the speed is quite fine for me since I’m not a heavy user. Your subscription plan also dictates your internet speed.
Like in my case, I am subscribed to a volume-based 4G LTE internet data plan with connection speed up to 3 Mbps but my actual speed sometimes reaches as high as 6 Mbps. In a wireless internet, your connection speed relies on the strength of the signal received by the outdoor antenna. My 4G outdoor antenna looks similar to the image above.
