This error occurs when you do not have a proper internet connection, did not install the latest updates, .ost files and .pst files of Outlook stored on the drive do not have sufficient storage and many other reasons. To resolve this error, first of all, check your internet connection. If it is not working then probably poor connection is the reason for it. Check your username and password on https://sso.secureserver.net/?app=email&realm=pass, if they are registered and working correctly. Verify the hostname of the servers.

Maybe the port you are using currently is blocked by the Internet Service provider due to some security issues, so refer changing the settings of your SMTP port:

  1. Open the ‘Account Settings’ in the ‘Tools Menu’ of Microsoft Outlook 2007. 
  2. Choose the account for which you want to change the configuration.
  3. Go to the ‘Advanced’ tab in ‘More Settings’ option.
  4. Select ‘SSL’ so as to ‘Use the following type of encrypted connection.’
  5. On ‘Outgoing Server,’ write ‘465,’ then click ‘OK’ press ‘Enter.’
  6. If the above port number does not work, then you can try 80,25,3535.
