Shadow Copy is just a technology in Microsoft Windows which permits taking manual or automatic copies of backup or snapshots of system files, even when they are running in use. Its implementation is as a Windows service with the name as the Volume Shadow Copy service. A tool VSS provider service is also a part of Windows which is in use by Windows applications. The technology of Shadow Copy needs the file system to be NTFS to generate and save shadow copies.
