File Replication Service (FRS) by Microsoft is a service of Windows Server for distributing shared documents and Policy Objects. It replaces the Lan Manager service of Replication and has been partially in replacement by the Distributed File System. It also has its name after the name of the .exe file that executes the service.
One of the important uses of FRS is for SYSVOL share. The SYSVOL share is important in a network of Microsoft as it is in use to distribute documents supporting Group Policy and scripts to users’ computers on the network.
