According to Microsoft support, you may receive error “0x80070057” when you try to do a clean install of Microsoft Windows 7. It happens because the partition reserved for the system or the system partition which is reserved for the restoration of Windows and for the BitLocker is damaged.

Reserved system partition

To fix the problem, you need to delete the existing partitions on the system drive, create a new one, and then install Windows 7 again. Insert the Windows 7 setup DVD on the optical drive then restart the computer. Boot from the DVD then press any key when you see “Press any key to boot from CD or DVD…” Follow the usual installation process.

When you reach the part asking where to install Windows, delete all partitions then create a new partition. When you are prompted with “To ensure that all Windows features work correctly, Windows might create additional partitions for system files,” just click “OK” then continue formatting the primary partition.
