I was just wondering about what is microsoft infopath. Every time I try to read about it, I fail to understand the same.

The application Microsoft InfoPath is a software application which is in use for designing, filling, distributing, and submitting electronic forms consisting of structured information. Microsoft recently announced a release of InfoPath as a part of Microsoft Office 2003. The product provides a WYSIWYG form designer where the various controls (such as textbox, checkbox, and radio Button) are bound to content, which is in display individually as a hierarchical tree view of different folders and data fields.
Microsoft Office InfoPath is a program used for filling, submitting, designing, and distributing electronic forms that contain structured data. Microsoft InfoPath was first released as part of the Microsoft Office 2003 suite which features a WYSIWYG form designer wherein different controls like text box, checkbox, and radio button are bound to data.
Microsoft announced on January 31, 2014 that Microsoft Office InfoPath was discontinued but will still be supported until April 2023. According to Microsoft, “InfoPath Forms Services will be included in the next on-premises release of SharePoint Server 2016, as well as being fully supported in Office 365 until further notice.”
On September 1, 2015, Microsoft InfoPath 2013 became a standalone version for the first time when it was made available in the Microsoft Download Center. But to use the standalone version of Microsoft InfoPath 2013, you need to have an active ProPlus subscription to Office 365.
