As part of my B.Tech syllabus, I have studied various IEEE protocols for different kinds of networks. I know that the syllabus is old and the protocols I am learning are probably not the latest protocols. Can you please mention some latest IEEE protocols and their uses?

First of all, what is IEEE? IEEE is an abbreviation for Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. IEEE is dedicated to the advancement of technology and science for the betterment of society. It is also the world’s largest technical professional society.
As far as the protocols are concerned, the IEEE 802 protocol series is what governs the different standards of networking.

The 802 protocol contains 22 subprotocols that cover all aspects of networking which includes physical and data-link aspects of networking.

A whole list of protocols is available on the IEEE website. The most well-known protocols are 802.3 Ethernet, 802.11 Wi-Fi, 802.15 Bluetooth/ZigBee, and the 802.16 protocols.
