Hello,

I need some information about Linux before I install it to my laptop pc. I have heard that Linux operating system does not need an Anti-virus and it is automatically protected from virus. This is the reason I have been actually thinking of installing Linux, however I need to be confirmed whether it is true or not. Please someone verify it and let me know if it is true.

Yes, Linux is a virus protected OS (Operating System).

To stop any virus from spreading, Linux has an inbuilt protection system within the OS. It is technically possible to create virus for Linux, but such virus will not be able to propagate – it is impossible. Therefore, you can choose Linux Operating System for its capability of destroying and stopping the propagation of any virus.

Furthermore, there are many free antivirus software available for Linux. AVG is an example of such antivirus.
For further enhancing the security against antivirus, you can opt for locking down the stray networking services.

You also should not allow un-trusted people to enter into your system

Thanks everyone, I think I have made the right choice with this LINUX operated computer. I agree that it is more stable than Windows and Mac and I am glad because it wouldn't get infected by viruses compared the other OS's

Thank you!
