Issues with screen on Palm

My Palm PDA is showing black lines on it when I turn it on. This just started happening a day or so ago and I've tried resetting it but no luck. Is there any potential solution to this? I really do not want to INVEST in a new one right now. Can anyone assist in any type of troubleshooting tips? Thanks.

There are a few options to try.  Before you do any of these, please make a backup of your Palm PDA.

The first thing to try is get the PDA into Debug Mode and update the Operating System.

  1. Debug Mode
  • Press and Hold the Down Arrow button. If the Down Arrow button doesn’t work, try holding the Down and Up buttons at the same time. The screen will not clear, but after a few moments a small curser will blink in the corner of the unit.
  • Press and release the Reset button at the back of the PDA
  • Release the Down Arrow button
  • Place the PDA in the cradle
  • Try and upgrade the OS.  If the unit tries to HotSync first, use the Advanced option to bypass the HotSync

The second thing to try is to perform a Hard Reset

  1. Hard Reset your device
  • Press and Hold down the Power button.  Do not release it
  • Push the reset button
  • When the Palm logo appears on the screen, release the Power button
  • It will ask if you want to delete all data – Press the Up button to confirm

If you still have the problem after a hard reset with no software installed, you might have a hardware problem. You will need to take it in for repairs.
