I was installing new windows and reformat my computer.  And now, I can’t hear any sound on my speaker. I’m not really sure what's happening during the installation with my windows XP. Do I need to reinstall again the windows XP?

Hello, usually the sound problem is due to installation and sometimes isn’t set up properly. Check your sound card or sound processor and verify that your cable is correct plug locations.

You don’t need to reinstall the windows once done installing. All you have to do is to check the proper plugging and sound processor found at device manager. Or, check the device status of your sound card identity by choosing sound card name (right click) then properties and choose general tab and then look for the device status.

Yes I am completely installed the windows. Ok I will follow your instructions later; I hope I could fix it. Thanks.

Again, after checking the status and verify all devices and still not working, your sound card might need for a new driver. Or else this is an incompatibility with your hardware and operating system.  And I think that’s your problem.

Maybe kind of. I don’t know about that. But I will track the orders and if it is not working I will consult to the technician. Thanks a lot!

After the first one, try also the common method to troubleshoot or repair your windows XP sound. Thing you’ll need are: Use the windows trouble-shooter, update sound card drivers, update your media player and install a new sound card. That’s all!

When you install a fresh copy of the Microsoft Windows operating system whether Windows XP, Windows Vista, or higher, sound is not enabled by default. This is because the operating system installation doesn’t cover installing of hardware devices. This means, when you install Windows, only the Windows operating system is installed. Other devices like sound card and network card are not installed.
You don’t hear sound because the sound card is not yet installed. If sound is working before you formatted your computer, it means you have a sound card. When you format your hard drive, everything is removed from the system drive. You have to install all devices manually again after installing Windows. Once you installed the driver for your sound card, you should be able to hear sound again.
