I was taken aback when I saw this error code 0x80016cfa pop-up from nowhere while browsing. I thought it would away if I closed and reopened my browser again. However, that did not happen, and every time it shows up, I have to close the browser forcefully. Is this error a real one? Please assist me in solving it.

Hi, do not make any call on that number as this error is not real. Off late, there have been a lot of awareness campaigns online, to make people aware of these technical scams. In this fraud, the error message urges people to make a phone call as early as possible to get rid of the error. Hence, PLEASE BEWARE of these scams and do not give them anything.

To get rid of the malware, the following steps will prove to be beneficial:

• Trying to exit the browser will not be of help since these errors will not easily let you do so. Hence, open the Task Manager.

• Go to the Processes button and right-click on the web browser you are unable to close and choose End Process option. In some of the scenarios, you might wish to choose End Process Tree option.

• Doing the above step will kill the error script and clean your browser. You can try opening it again and reset the web browser. However, do not choose Restore session option as it will bring back the error.

• You can also check your PC for any malware by running Anti-Malware software to get rid of residues of the error.
