Ipod charging problem: on and off

When I plug my ipod to charge it using the usb cable, it makes a sound that it is charging.  After a minute, I hear the sound again, and it is not charging.  After several minutes charging starts again.  This cycle repeats at uneven intervals throughout the charging time.  How can I get it to charge properly?

In order to help you further, please provide the model of the concerned iPod [Classic/Nano/shuffle/iTouch].

Kindly cross check whether the iPod is connected to the computer with a Firewire or perhaps a USB 2.0 cable that was provided along with your iPod purchase.

It is highly recommended not to use any other cable other than the one which came along with your iPod purchase. Most of the times, the issue comes from the cheap cables as not all cables are created with proper specifications.

  • In case you are using an older version of the iPod, it may still need the official iPod Firewire 6-pin cable, which is not a USB. However, only a USB cable will have the ability to charge the iPod when connected to a PC/laptop, but unfortunately it won't recharge an older version of the iPod. It's highly suggested that you should always use the official iPod USB that comes while purchasing or FireWire cable to fix the issues with iPod.

You can purchase either of them at Amazon website or anything other related sites.
