Since you are using a router for your wireless internet connection, I would suggest that we try to isolate the issue first to find out what exactly is causing the interruption. Buying a new router without troubleshooting first will cost you money and for all you know your router is perfectly working. Here are my suggestions:

  1. Try refreshing everything first, from your system to your connecting device. To do that just turn off your computer, then turn-off your wireless router, turn-off your modem, and have it unplug from the phone jack or if it is battery operated remove the batteries first. After 10-seconds, turn on your modem first, wait for it to connect to the internet or for the internet light to turn on, then turn on your router (wait for it to connect to the internet as well), then turn on your computer last. After that, check your wireless connection signal then browse through any websites to see if the connection will still get interrupted.
  2. If the issue persists, then update the drivers for your wireless network adapter.
  3. If it is still the same, then contact your router manufacturer in case your device’s settings might need to be reconfigured.

You did not mention if you are using a wireless broadband USB stick or a pocket Wi-Fi. These devices are SIM card-based and require cellular network to connect. If your internet connection keeps getting disconnected every now and then, check your signal in the area. Most of the time connection gets disconnected because of low signal reception.

Sun Cellular Pocket Wi-Fi

If your wireless broadband stick or pocket Wi-Fi is connected to the same network as your phone, check the current signal strength on your phone. If you are receiving a low signal, you should transfer to another area with a much higher signal reception. Wireless internet like 3G and 4G LTE relies on signal strength for stability. But this doesn’t dictate the speed of your connection.

You can get a fast speed on low signal and sometimes a slow speed even when you have the strongest signal. For wireless internet, the speed of your connection relies on the amount of traffic getting sent and received by the network. The more users using your network and the higher the data that’s getting transmitted, the slower your connection will be.
