Installing anti virus Kaspersky instead of AVG

I bought a Kaspersky Antivirus but before I could start to install it, a message appeared saying I have to remove the other existing Antivirus on my computer. The existing Antivirus according to the message is "AVG 8". But I couldn't find the software, I tried overwriting this AVG 8 by installing the free trial version of AVG 8.0 thinking the two are the same.

I uninstalled the AVG 8.0 and tried again to install the Kaspersky Antivirus, the same message popped up again.

Hi!

It is simple to say that your uninstalled AVG file will not get deleted from your Computer. And Kaspersky would not have space to go it's power. You have to try as you did before to that uninstall the software. You can remove it from

Control panel > Uninstall soft then click your deleting application.

Then install Kaspersky Antivirus or it will show the same as before. Now here is the solution to your. Reinstall the Kaspersky and do the above instructions if AVG file exists. Before installing you make sure that AVG is not in your 'C' drive or recycle bin. It may help your friend if you try to do like this.

Thanks.

I would like to answer your question by asking whether you still have the installer for AVG 8. If so, its easier uninstalling it from its own installer that trying tirelessly via the new antivirus. Simply try and install it back again and that way when you attempt the uninstall from the control panel, you will be sure that the anti virus has been completely removed.

The other way, and in most cases is when the installer itself recognizes the presence of the said ant virus and gives the options of Remove, Repair and so on. So you comfortably tell it to remove. Only after this will you be able to install the new antivirus. Regards

Some antivirus programs will have conflicts on each other if installed at the same time. So you have to ensure that you do not have the copy of your previous antivirus before installing a new one. Overwriting an installed application is not recommended. It is always better and safer to uninstall the program before installing a new one be it the same program or version.

To uninstall your AVG 8, just go to your Control Panel and then locate the AVG 8 on the list and then right-click and click Uninstall. You can also try to delete the entire AVG 8 contents by going in to the location where it will be saved automatically after installing in your computer. The default location is in your C: directory.

You can also type AVG 8 on the search box to see the list of all the AVG 8 components. And you just need to delete the folder. If you cannot uninstall it, use a third-party application such as Revo Uninstaller Pro. It will help you remove unwanted programs in your system.
