Installation problem with the new Realplayer ( access problem to the registry)

Hi,

When I am installing the new Real player from real.com, with either on the web installer or the full one, getting the following unusual error: "you currently do not have administrator access to the windows registry. Please see you system administrator to install realplayer".

It is unusual because I’m the admin of my PC, and I do access the registry and modify as I want. I have tried with uac enabled/disabled, with all kinds of safe mode, but still can’t get rid of this message. For your information, I’m using windows vista ultimate sp2.

So far I have never faced with any kinds of problem with installing programs, with or without uac. Again, I can install the older versions of the player with no problem, but not the new one. I try to use the real online solution, but did not find any solution. Please help me out.

Putting your computer’s operating system’s version really helps in determining the source of the problem. It is clear now that you have an incompatible application in your machine.

When you said that you are installing the new version of RealPlayer in your computer, I’m assuming that you are installing the latest version of the application.

Although Windows Vista is supported by this application but your current Service Pack is not supported by the new version, RealPlayer SP. This version of RealPlayer only supports the Service Pack 1 of Windows Vista and since you are using the Service Pack 2 version, this is the reason why you are getting that unusual error even if you are already logged in as the Administrator.

RealPlayer SP can be installed on a computer that is running on Windows XP Service Pack 3 and Windows Vista Service Pack 1. Since you are using the Service Pack 2 of Windows Vista, you need to downgrade your system to Service Pack 1 in order for the application to work.

This application also requires Adobe Flash Player 9 or later.

If you wish to download RealPlayer SP again, visit RealNetworks at http://www.real.com/ for the download link.
