Hello,

I am trying to install Safari 5.0.5 after updating my Mac to Version 10.6.8. When updating I used the combo updater in safe mode and with fixed permissions. As Version 10.6.8 will not recognize Safari 5.0.5 should I update my Mac again using the combo updater?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Avah,

You will probably need to install the Combo updater for Safari 5.0.5 to be able to install on the Mac to Version 10.6.8, but that alone does not guarantee that the application will work. There are a couple of things you will also need to do too, and they are as follow:

  • You will need to use Disc Utility to do a Permissions Repair.
  • After that make sure that you restart your computer.
  • And then you can download and then install the Combo update.
  • After that you can run the software update again.

Otherwise, you may try downloading Pacifist, and then install. You can then install Safari 5.0.5 from there.

Regards,

Carl
