Greetings Mr. Mathias

Error code 80040001 come from a damaged file in your OS ( Operation System). This damaged file can come up from :

  • in-complete installation.
  • un-clean program deletion.
  • Spyware.
  • Virus attack.
  • Incorrect shut down on the computer.

There are 2 solution that you can try :

  1. Restore your PC to a prior date by using System Restore function on your Computer.
  2. Reinstalling your OS again from zero.

Hope this help.

If you are in a standalone computer, check if there is an assigned ip address on you system through the use of command prompt using the ‘ ipconfig’ command. If there is no assigned ip address in your system, in the command prompt again use the command ‘diskpart’ to check for errors on you system drive.

Note that the ‘diskpart’ command can also format drives, read instructions first before using this command. This is due to corrupted programs in you system and irregular cleaning of that systems programs.
