I have a problem opening my V8 file using MicroStation, the support team at Axiom often gets a lot of complaining about file corruption on V8 design compared to V7 design. Any ideas of how this can be resolved?

Hello,

The reason why you are not able to open the file is because Bentley increased file level security. Bentley wanted to ensure that the file is fully protected, but this increase in protection disabled access to older versions of MicroStation.  It is suggested that you upgrade to version V8i. Try these steps so that your version could open the protected file in SS1:  Go to Workspace and select configuration. Now, set the variable to 1. Microstation will protects the file and allow the V8 to open the files. Setting the variable to 0, MicroStation will use Encryption and will not permit V8 to open the files.

Another solution is to use DWG recovery tool. This tool is compatible with all Windows versions, easy to use and enables the user to view AutoCAD data results.

I hope this is useful.
