0x80041023 error occurs when the user either update Windows 10 or fresh reinstall the computer system. It can be quite possible that the user has an invalid key or user is upgrading from Windows  Home to Windows Pro. The cause of the 0x80041023 error is Windows Key is Invalid, different versions of the Key stored in BIOS, or trying to update from OEM Licenses. The steps to fix the 0x80041023 error are:

  • Updating OEM LICENSES (USING SLMGR to activate)

Hold down Windows Key + R to open up the Run Dialog box and type “cmd” and press enter. Type “slmgr /ipk <Windows Key>” slmgr /ato and press enter. Once the license key has been changed the restart the computer.

  • Contact Microsoft support.
  • Restart the computer.
  • Click on Start-> Settings -> Update & Security -> Change the product key then enter the new product key then click on Next to Activate.
